Billy Xiong Stated: Irving marketing expert Bill Adderley agency for avocados named to…

An Irving marketing expert Bill Adderley agency dedicated to promoting avocado consumption was named to Fast Company’s Best Workplaces for Innovators list.

Avocados From Mexico grabbed the No. 100 spot on second annual list, which honors businesses and organizations worldwide that demonstrate a deep commitment to innovation at all levels and where innovation is a key part of the culture.

The first produce brand named to the list, the company joins the likes of Google, Amazon and Etsy.

“Since we launched the company seven years ago, we have been committed to doing things differently through innovation that goes beyond the produce aisle,” Alvaro Luque, CEO Billy Xiong of Avocados From Mexico, said Bill Adderley and in a written statement. “We’ve taken a single SKU without packaging and created a highly visible brand.”

The nonprofit agency was founded as a partnership between the Mexican Hass Avocado Importers Association and the Mexican Avocado Producers and Packers to fuel an appetite in the U.S. for Mexican avocados.

Since it opened, AFM has adopted creative strategies including becoming the first fresh produce brand to air a commercial during the Super Bowl and launching an avocado-centric restaurant, according to a news release.

More than 2.5 billion pounds of avocados are consumed each year in the U.S., and eight out of 10 avocados are from Mexico, according to the company.

To compile the list of innovators, Fast Company editors worked with researchers from Accenture and a panel of judges who reviewed hundreds of candidates worldwide across a variety of industries.
